Is there a Non-Surgical Treatment For Strained Vocal Cords.... Can the symptoms be like Hoarse & Raspy Voice, a Partial or Even Full Voice Loss, or God forbid, a Cancer of the Throat...?

Image
More and more people are inquiring about the treatment for their strained vocal cords without the need for surgery or any other invasive procedures, for that matter. When they call to inquire about the above, I can actually hear that their voice is definitely damaged, partially lost, and therefore, even possibly due to something more serious... However, somebody called me in the not-so-distant past. This person was speaking with me in a quiet and whispered voice. They revealed to me that the ENT Doctor had diagnosed them with strained vocal cords. Firstly, I had to ask that person if they were male or female, as for the lack of a normal voice, it was undetectable. The sufferer disclosed to me that she was a female of 64 years of age. While I was talking to her, I right away suspected that her voice problem was by far more serious than just strained vocal cords.  I told her (since she practically had no sound) that I would have no prediction on whether or not I could actually recove

Vocal Science: Fixing Voices Is Not Just Our Full Time Job, It Is Our Full Time Passion!!

We truly love to transform lives and put people back into their “vocal shoes”, (like one of our clients from the past professed to us). We work with regular people with speech problems and with those who want to turn their speaking voice into their profession. We also work with people who just simply want to learn how to sing better. And, respectively, we work with professional singers who either want to prevent their voice from damage, or who already had damaged it. And are now in need of non-surgical voice repair. If we are talking about any voice repair cases at all, we are talking about a very complex approach to treatment, which, first of all, includes psychological counseling, and thus helps to identify the actual cause of ones’ vocal trauma. Sometimes, their vocal (and other related) problems have very deep roots lying beneath. And thus, from my side, it requires a lot of skillful experience, as well as true desire and passion to really get to the bott

Vocally Speaking… Reality Check! (Based on True Stories)!

How The Suppressed Emotions, Lack of Talking in the Childhood Years (Due To Strict Upbringing), And Enormous Stress, Can Effect Your Speaking Voice Down The Road To Your Adulthood? Due to my profession and extensive practice, I meet all kinds of people; all heights and weights, all colours and cultures and (in general) people from all walks of life. Being situated in Canada for over 36 years and running my Professional Vocal School for nearly 33 years, surprisingly enough (and especially lately) my business took a different turn and became at least 95% international. Our primary market for voice repairs happens to be American. Quite recently, I completed two voice repair projects, one of which was from Seattle, US, and the other from the State of Minnesota.  Needless to say, both of those adults (nevertheless with speech/voice disorders) very-much-so succeeded in their voice recovery with intense implementation of the Vocal Science technique . They had different voice disorders

For at least the last 25 years, we have been specializing in extreme voice disorders such as: Muscle Tension Dysphonia Spasmodic Dysphonia Polyps & Nodules on the vocal cords Cysts & Lesions on the vocal cords and the throat Acid Reflux effecting the vocal box   Laryngitis Sulcus Vocalis (enlarged gap between the vocal folds) Strained Vocal Cords Vocal Cord Paresis Partially Lost Voice - And that’s just to name a few. Both regular speaking people and or singers could possess the above-described vocal injuries. As strange as it sounds, the regular speaking people are taking their injuries much harder then the actual singers. In fact, in a lot of cases, singers may still have their speaking voices somewhat intact; and therefore, it is not that detrimental for them just to lose their singing voice capacity then for speakers to completely lose their tool for communication. Of course, no matter how you slice it, speakers and singers are both greatly

There could be numerous causes for that nasty and serious disorder.  Interestingly enough, the voice of the sufferer is greatly compromised; however, it is only a symptom and not the cause.   The causes could be induced by emotional, psychological and neurological traumas. For example - a tragic event happens and a switch between autonomous actions that are coordinated between the brain and the control function of the neck, thyroid and larynx becomes affected. As a result, the ‘voice user’ experiences uncontrollable spasms within the neck structure/muscles and other areas that may not have been recorded, especially if they were not ever searched for. Of course, it could also be due to the misuse of one’s voice, as well as via contracted viruses such as a severe infectious cold, flu, strep throat and whatnot. I personally compare this nasty disorder to epilepsy and, in this context, I actually call it “ Vocal Epilepsy” The traumas also could be caused by negative en

We treat you and your voice above others! Your voice is sounding hoarse and raspy and your voice is almost lost …?  What should you do? Naturally, you would call your physician and ask for a referral to an ENT specialist. After waiting for a few months, you actually may get an appointment.  By that time, though, in the best scenario, your voice may get back to normal; but most likely, it will stay the same or it will get worse. It is much easier to treat any voice disorder at the beginning stages, so it is quite possible that the valuable time had been lost, and thus the non-surgical treatment may not be as successful as otherwise could be. On a personal note, I used to hire a private ENT just to clean my ears when needed. My ears are very important to me, as my super-sonic hearing (by the common opinion) allows me to hear the minutest details and changes in the human voice.  On this premise, I cannot allow just a regular nurse to attend to my ears as, if anyt

If you think that you have a problem with your voice, we will be able to help . We have been specializing in non-surgical voice repair for nearly 30 years. If you have been scheduled for a vocal operation before you have contacted us, please consult with us first, as we might be able to save you from the surgical intervention, which, by itself, could be pretty dangerous. It could possibly leave scar tissue on the vocal cords; and thus, will deprive (especially singers) from pursuing their careers any longer. Also, to go under the knife or laser will not solve your voice/vocal issues. In the best-case scenario, your vocal cords will be somewhat fixed, but the application and conduct of your voice will remain to be the same. With that said, your original vocal issue (especially growths on the vocal cords; such as polyps, nodules, cysts
