Why are vocal students (former and present) of well-renowned vocal coaches keeping "close relationships” with their renowned ENT Doctors?

Image
My answer(s) and point of view was inspired by a news article from CBC News | Entertainment, titled:  " What's robbing Adele, CĂ©line Dion and more singers of their voices " ( here is a link to that article )  However, to start elaborating on the above editorial, I would like to bring to your attention a comment by my former voice repair student, presently singing student under my vocal care - Mary Ellen Stoll of  Brockville, Ontario . Please read below and get her point of view on the above-mentioned article. I believe that she said pretty much all of what needed to be said: _______________ “Hello Eli: I listen to and enjoy your reporting on CBC all the time.  I also listened with great interest to your report on what's robbing singers of their voices. I have a very strong and personal interest in this topic and thought I might share some of my story with you, as a way of rounding out the perspective on the coverage. Forty ye

Surgical and Non-Surgical Care for various Voice Disorders...?

Image
________________ Can any voice/vocal disorder be treated non-surgically? Conversely..., can any voice/vocal disorder be treated surgically? To kick things off, let's find out the answer(s) for the above! Let the controversy begin!!! ________________ ________________ My answer(s) and point of view was inspired by an article from The Guardian Newspaper, titled "Why do stars like Adele keep losing their voice?" ( here is a link to that article )  ________________ ________________ A few months ago, this article (mentioned in the link) was brought to my attention by two of my clients. Both found similarities in the content of the article above with what I have been teaching them as well as with the content of my two websites. For the last 34 years, I have owned an international professional vocal school in Toronto, Canada. My vocal school is a division of a non-surgical voice repair institute The Voc

Part 2, Neo-Singing…? Neo-Skating… Anything Else?

Image
What do we mean by that? We mean… NO singing and NO skating… per say. “It’s quality of skating, not quantity of jumps” - states Canadian figure skating champion, Patric Chan. “Skating can be rewarded” -   said the figure skating commentator, Rod Black, after the U.S. well-known skater, James Brown’s ice performance. James Brown himself said: “ Of course, I can land ripples and quads, but not in the expense of the artistry!” Given all that, in this case, the skaters themselves are revolting against “ice acrobatics” and overall “ice circus”, so to speak.  They actually have been missing the artistry of their craft, as well as poise and grace, which had always made figure skating field a very special place where they had an opportunity to show off their very special skills (and not just very dangerous and vigorous jumps which, in turn, could, at any time, become very detrimental to their body’s anatomy and physiology). I just watched a pre-holiday movie where the

Vocal Science - Adele Has Lost Her Voice...Again?

Image
- Yes... She was forced to cancel the rest of her tour! - You may wonder why this had occurred one more time again…? That happened because if nothing gets changed with respect of how the artist is using his/her voice, it will inevitably reoccur again and again… unfortunately. The very first time it happened to Adele was in the year 2012 . At that time, losing her voice, she had to cancel her concerts and tour dates due to a bleeding polyp on her vocal cord.  She was transported to Boston, US, to undergo a vocal surgery which was successfully completed by one of the renowned ENT specialists. Adele was not allowed to speak for 5 months after the procedure. After that, her voice healed and returned “back to normal”, and thus she was scheduled to perform at the upcoming Grammy awards.  Right before that, she was interviewed by Anderson Cooper and during that interview, she was asked if she thought whether or not that could happen to her ever again? Without any he

Non-Surgical Voice Repair: Change what you can; manage what you cannot.

We care for you, and your voices, since 1984.   Since 1984: We do fix voices We do transform lives We do remove labels of some diagnoses(s) which had been imposed onto our clients voice conditions by some medical doctors   The medical professionals give the patients promises, which are implied to the voice recovery; but in reality, those promises (in majority of cases) never had been declared. From our experience, the example would be where the ENT professional(s) suggests a vocal surgery and makes a promise to the patient that, after the surgery, their voice will be back to normal and there will be no consequences. In reality though, the growth on the vocal cord(s) such as polyps or papillomas, can grow back in no time, as firstly, because that type of growth has a viral nature; and secondly, because the patients’ application of the voice had never changed. And, as we all know, there is no change without change. If, in the first place, the growth on th
