Vocal Cord Damage Acquired during Open Heart Surgery…?

Image
Case Study: This story is about Vera D of Barrie Ontario, whose vocal cords got damaged during her open heart surgery… Vera came to us in the year 2015 when she hardly could speak, and mostly was whispering. She told us her story whereas before coming for our non-surgical voice repair services, she had undergone open-heart surgery, after the completion of which, she fell in a life-and-death coma. It took over 45 minutes to revive her. Thank God, luckily for her, she survived the ordeal. But when she woke up, she discovered that she had no voice to speak. It clearly was damaged due to intubation and, perhaps, some other internal surgical procedures related to the main cause. She was told that she would never regain her normal speaking voice ever again. She underwent some very painful and useless tests that revealed that her vocal cord damage was permanent. On this note, she was offered not one, but two vocal operations with absolutely no guarantee that her voice will ever return b...

The first international client, named Alberto ‘Maui’ Mauiztic (a singer/songwriter from Cozumel, Mexico) , came to us for just 20 hours of non-surgical voice repair coupled with the natural herbal treatment. He had severe pain in the throat while speaking and singing due to laryngitis and, nonetheless, vocal cord nodules. Due to the above, needless to say, his vocal cords were inflamed and strained.  - I would like to remind you, my reader, that the protocol for non-surgical voice repair, is a minimum of 30 hours (preferably 40 hours) of our very unique instruction and, of course, precise treatment with the applicable natural herbs and some homeopathic remedies, selected personally for each individual. _____ For greater clarity and in a manner of speaking, these types of courses are equivalent to a rehab (in this case - vocal rehab)...

Almost anyone, at one time or the other, experiences hoarseness, or even loss of voice due to the occurrence of various circumstances. Some of the causes of hoarseness could be due to the common cold, exposure to high volumes of sound in a concert or even simply cheering for your favorite team at a sports event. While these conditions can temporarily compromise one’s vocal cords, with some needed care, (such as vocal rest and proper hydration) it can actually be recovered in a reasonably short time. There are certain times where people are not able to decipher the problem(s) with their voice which they are experiencing. With that said, it is important to have an awareness of the most common disorders, and how to rectify them, in order to avoid long-term or even permanent damage. Voice Repair - If Your Voice is "Broken", Obtain the "Tools" to Fix It.

Image
Hardly finish your tour? Does your throat hurt after performances? Voice sounding hoarse? If your answer is yes, the above are the symptoms of an overused and abused vocal anatomy. The worst part is if you continue doing it without changing your manner of speaking and singing, it will lead to the need for a serious voice repair and not necessarily a non-surgical one. By that time, if you attempt to attain the non-surgical voice repair, it might be too late. Then you are facing a laser or a scalpel operation, which could result in scar tissue, which by itself could be more detrimental than the original damage... This could be your worst nightmare. The reason I am writing this blog is to prevent you from that possibility. The prevention is definitely far better than dealing with serious vocal damage . What does prevention entail, you may ask? Learning the proper skills for speaking and singing before you embark on any performance or that nasty tour which m...

How Healthcare for The Voice Contributes to ones’ Balance and Health in General?

Image
Vocal Science™ Technique advocates not only healthcare for the voice, but also for the human being as a whole. In order to structure, place and project the voice to its aimed destination, the alignment between the subconscious and conscious mind has to take place.  In a nutshell, Vocal Science™ method is about the integration and synergy between mental, physical, physiological, emotional and vocal components. When the subconscious and conscious mind are aligned, the person is more inclined to think and to act upon thinking. Unfortunately, (especially lately and due to enormous stress), people often act irrationally and without thinking first. Some, instead, are thinking forever and never act upon their thoughts. Both statements suggest the complete imbalance of the above aforementioned components. That said, addressing the above aforementioned components could have a positive effect on the person while their voice is being fixed and/or trained. Those people who su...

Vocal ICU (Intensive Care) - Could It Be Administered Remotely?

Image
Given that we live in a digital era, more and more we have been asked if we provide Non-Surgical Voice Repair Services remotely, i.e., via Skype, FaceTime, WeChat and etc. This trend started a few years ago and, at that time, I thought that people were simply joking…! I thought “they could not be serious”, as any vocal disorder could represent a serious internal problem. In fact, I just came back from my travels in the Middle East and unfortunately ended up (due to one of my relatives’ serious medical problem) in an ICU section of the hospital. In fact, they did not call it ICU (like in North America). They call it the “ Internal Medicine Department ”. It confused me at first, but after thoroughly thinking about it, I understood the total meaning of the name “Internal Medicine”, which totally matched the description. All of those people in that wing were cared for 24/7 and all of the monitors (which they were connected to) were also supervised 24/7. Respecti...

Vocal Strain – What Does It Mean?

Image
Vocal Strain means that the voice was misused or abused in more ways then one. Sometimes, just regular people end up abusing their voices without being aware of doing so. Some of them are speaking a lot and speaking very forcefully; almost screaming instead of speaking. They do get tired by the end of the day, but in the morning, they start all over again. Also, if their work requires them to speak on the phone all day, or to teach classes/courses, that’s where voice/vocal strain may occur; (and sometimes, to the point when they may lose their voice completely). Sometimes, the vocal strain could produce growths (like nodules or polyps) on the vocal cords. That’s where the “alarm should go off”, so to speak. Now we are talking about the growth on the vocal cords which, by itself, is a very serious matter. Either surgically, or preferably non-surgically, any growth has to be eliminated. We know of cases where such growth(s) had been left untreated for some...
