Voice Problems. What Kind Of Impact It Makes On People Surrounding the Person With The Voice Disorder?

Very often, I get the phone calls, (especially from the US), from the husbands or wives of the vocally effected individuals. They inquire about the Non-Surgical Voice Repair on behalf of their loved one and I, in a lot of times, am hearing and even suspecting that there is something wrong with their own voices. Since some people are not able to coherently express themselves outright at the beginning of the phone conversation, I presume that they inquire about themselves! Of course, if I hear severe voice damage, I know that I am talking to the right person. It is quite peculiar that the spouse, with no voice problem per say, sounds like he/she has one!  It seems, like when I travel to the UK, I also pick up a British accent. Also, when I receive the American clients from Buffalo New York or Texas, my Russian and Canadian accent gets mixed in with their American accent.  It seems to be when one of the spouses has a voice problem and has obvious difficulty speaking, the oth

Vocal Talent (or not) Vs Adequate (or inadequate) Vocal Anatomy… How do they interact with each other and what would be greater if you had a choice of one?

Having close to 40 years of experience of teaching and repairing voices , I accessed minimum to say over 20,000 people; some with talent, others without, some with good structure of the vocal anatomy and some did not actually have a physical structure suitable for any kind of singing, let alone professionally. Ultimately, the big mouth, the full lips, the good vocal box opening, would be desirable for anybody to become a singer of whichever calibre.    It’s just like a classical ballet.  The person who would want to embark on a classical ballet scene, would have to have certain lengths of the arms and legs, certain flexibility, slender physique, and a high instep. The physical requirements for that particular field are very strict. However, outside of the classical ballet, there are some other forms of dance where those particular requirements for the physical structure are not as important.  A lot of components though, could be somewhat improved such as flexibility, body

Voice/Vocal Power. How to acquire the most of it.

Quite a few people do not possess a good volume of their voices, especially while speaking. They do not necessarily have any kind of a problem with their voices , with the exception of low volume and unclear pronunciation of their words. They usually speak softly and from the “middle of their throat”, so to speak. That means that the projection of their voices is, almost, non-existent, therefore, the annunciation and pronunciation of their words does not have any clarity.  It is extremely hard to understand these people, even though most of the times; they speak the same language as everybody else. However, if on top of that they happen to be immigrants, in that case, to understand them becomes virtually impossible. By utilizing the Vocal Science technique , which promotes the placement of the human voice, (speaking and/or singing), in the set of the sinus cavities, working in full conjunction and coordination with the abdominal muscles, the individual acquires a much f

Vocal Cord Surgery… Is it really performed free of charge? Also, what are the consequences?

In majority of times, people with voice disorders have been given suggestions by their ENT specialists’ to undergo a vocal cord surgery .  In countries like Canada and the United Kingdom, the conventional medical care is offered supposedly "free of charge”. Let’s examine it and see if the “free”, is this context, is really free.  Many times the local people, (those residing in Toronto), came to me seeking the alternative solution to surgical intervention.  When they "discovered" that they had to pay, however reasonable price for non-surgical voice repair services, they somewhat “paused” and then decided first to check back with their ENT specialists, (those whom they had originally seen). Nevertheless, the Doctors are still the Doctors. They, one more time again, dismissed the alternative non-surgical voice repair treatment and lured these, so to speak, “victims” towards undergoing the surgical procedure. Those people naturally thought that the doctors

How the quality of voice affects the quality of life.

When the person with a voice disorder is trying to live a (so to speak) normal life, he/she is definitely experiencing some difficulties in communication with others; nevertheless, at their work place and even in their family lives. They are usually very frustrated with their voice which is not, by far, sounding the same as before. They are also not very well understood and are, quite often, being asked several times to repeat or to reiterate what they were trying to say. That makes those people with voice disorders understandably very irritable and overall, very emotional. They feel like they are handicapped (in a manner of speaking), and understandably so. Some of them are so disillusioned that they carry with them a sign, advising the strangers that they have difficulty to speak. Others who have lost the hope to regain a normal voice are even starting to learn sign language.  How sad is that?  A lot of those people have lost hope with respect of living their norma

Needless to say that lately, especially since the recession kicked in, people became even more stressed out than before opposed to when they had good jobs, decent money to live on, and reasonable family lives. I always said that the voice is the spirit and it does reflect the state of the persons’ being. When the persons’ livelihood is in jeopardy and his/her world falls to pieces, it is no wonder that their spirit will be very down and, respectively, their voice will start sounding much lower in tone, much more stressed, less announced and with much less clarity. In some cases, the voice gets so laid back that it begins to gradually fall onto the lower part of the throat; and thus begins to sound very dull and somewhat hoarse .  Then the person might experience what’s called acid reflux , as the voice is drawn so low, that it evidently meets gastric acid. The person will experience the burning on the back of the vocal cords and sometimes even difficulty of breathing m
