Vocal Paresis - The Causes and Consequences.

Get this: From Strep Throat - To Laryngitis - To Vocal Cord Paralysis... Isn’t that peculiar? More and more, in my practice (close to four decades), I have been hearing about the devastating vocal disorder - Vocal Paresis, also known as Vocal Paralysis. The interesting thing is that a lot of other vocal disorders are usually caused by speaking and/or singing in the wrong (and often aggressive) way. - Vocal Paresis, as well as, (for example) Spasmodic Dysphonia (SD) , quite often have additional reasons for their occurrence. Interestingly enough, I hear a lot about some kind of a virus (or even a simple cold) that had produced vocal paresis affecting one or even both vocal cords. When a person is under a lot of stress, their immune system subsides which means that they become more susceptible to all kinds of infections, colds, and needless to say viruses. A couple of years ago, a client from Atlanta, Georgia came with one paralyzed vocal cord, which occurred after he experienced a real

Would You Like To Be in Contact with Aubry M, A Muscle Tension Dysphonia Survivor?

Image
NEW UPDATE: P.S., A couple of days ago, we had an inquiry from Detroit, Michigan USA. With Aubrie’s permission and encouragement, we submitted Aubrie’s phone number and e-mail address to the person who happened to be a singer with a quite-noticeable tremor on the bottom of her throat. That tremor was clearly on its way to becoming what’s known as the  Spasmodic Dysphonia  voice disorder… When we inquired with Aubrie whether or not the above-mentioned person contacted her, we have learnt that she never did. After conveying that back to Aubrie, we got a text from Aubrie stating: - “I know… Lord, she better get with it! But, no doubt, I’ll convince her of her ( honest to God ) last hope!!” _________ Aubrie M is ready and standing by to reassure you that coming to us in Toronto to fix her voice was the best thing that had happened to her. Not only that she acquired a healthy voice and had gotten rid of the constant sharp pain in her throat, but she also learnt how

The True Success Story of Aubrie Morris (from Pittsburgh, PN, USA) Conquering Muscle Tension Dysphonia Disorder Under Our Alternative Care... Non-Surgically!

“Just landed… I had a wonderful, encouraging time! I can not wait to come back. I will definitely be in contact soon!” - Aubrie M ___________________ For the first time, Aubrie arrived to us on Friday, November 1st, 2019 from the USA. Prior to her arrival, we have been in communication with her for a few months, as she had to pay off her 30-hour course and treatment in increments. We had already been very impressed with Aubrie throughout the process, as she told us that she was working (simultaneously) two jobs - totalling over 70 hours a week. That was her only way of being able to come to us to conquer her muscle tension dysphonia disorder Up until Aubrie had arrived to us, we had no idea that she was actually a young single mom with a young son on her hands. For the last three years, her dreams of becoming a professional singer had been, unfortunately, completely shattered. Apparently, nobody in her native city, (Pittsburgh) could help Aubrie to rectify her serious voice p

Vocal Science. - Way To Go, Voice To Go! - Case Studies!

In the past month, we finished three non-surgical voice repair courses with people from out-of-town and out-of-country. The first international client, named Alberto ‘Maui’ Mauiztic (a singer/songwriter from Cozumel, Mexico) , came to us for just 20 hours of non-surgical voice repair and natural herbal treatment. He had severe pain in the throat while speaking and singing due to laryngitis and vocal cord nodules. Due to the above, his vocal cords were inflamed and strained.  - I would like to remind you, my reader, that the protocol for non-surgical voice repair, is minimum 30 hours of our very unique instruction and, of course, treatment with natural herbs and homeopathic remedies. _____ For greater clarity and in a manner of speaking, those type of courses are equivalent to a rehab (in this case, vocal rehab). As our client/student has been raving about his success with the Vocal Science Method and Technique, I personally got a little co

What Is Chronic Laryngitis? Causes, Symptoms & Its Treatment!

Image
Chronic Laryngitis In laryngitis, you will find that laryngeal mucous membrane is congested, swollen and is full of mucus. Chronic laryngitis happens as a result of continual attacks of acute laryngitis. Since the larynx is responsible for producing voice, this can naturally affect the voice of any individual. Causes Excessive use of the voice for singing, especially in a dusty atmosphere, often leads to chronic laryngitis . Heavy smoking, exposure to chemicals, poisonous fumes and harmful gases can also cause this disease. Breathing from the mouth and obstruction of the nasal sinus can precipitate chronic laryngitis. Also, in some cases, respiratory diseases such as influenza, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and the common cold can cause chronic laryngitis. Symptoms • Hoarseness in the voice/Lost voice • Throat irritation (itchiness and scratchiness) • Difficulty in swallowing • Swollen lymph codes • Change in voice • Pain in throat Treatment If you

Vocal Science: All Voice - No Pain! ("All V - No P").

Not only a great amount of people are losing voices these days, but also a lot of them are experiencing severe pain in their throats. Before, we had complaints, primarily from singers; but more and more, just regular people (speakers) are complaining on extreme discomfort in their vocal box in general.  The singers are usually ruining their vocal anatomy simply for the lack of education and simple knowledge; and thus, lack of the proper vocal technique. They very often end up with laryngitis , i.e., with the hoarse and raspy voice ; not to mention an extreme pain in their throats. The singers (also very often) end up with the growth on their vocal cord(s); such as polyps, nodules, cysts and etc.   The regular people who do not take proper care of their voice and (in majority of times) their health in general, usually end up with muscle tension dysphonia or spasmodic dysphonia .  Nevertheless, they (of course) are also susceptible to the growth on their vocal cords, but

Occupational Hazards: Dealing with Everyday Bad Voice Habits.

I work with people from a wide variety of professions and walks of life, but I do find myself working with specific groups of people more often than others: Lawyers, Teachers, Admin Assistants, Salespeople, Public Speakers, Professional Voiceover Artists, Radio & TV Personalities and Singers. Due to their chosen professions, they often ruin their voices because they have no knowledge of any sort with respect of how to use their voices properly or how to preserve their voices for a prolonged period of time. Majority of times, these people tend to speak without any knowledge of how to lift their voices off of their vocal boxes and vocal cords in particular, and rather, instead, put their voices in use employing a different set of muscles (facial muscles); thus providing a very much needed rest for their vocal anatomy overall. On the contrary, they are pulling and pushing their vocal chords, squeezing and twisting their larynx and, moreover, engaging the muscles in their ne
